Launch notes
A practical start for a self-managed server.
1. Choose resources
Estimate memory, storage, CPU and transfer from your workload. Confirm your software supports the selected Linux version.
2. Secure access
Use public SSH keys. Create an administrative user, update packages and restrict SSH to trusted source IPs with custom firewall rules. Check recovery access before locking down.
3. Deploy carefully
Configure DNS and TLS, keep secrets outside your application code and verify the app works before exposing it.
4. Test recovery
Keep independent backups, test restores and monitor disk space, memory and service health. Export data before service expiry.
